1956 SUEZ CRISIS

{| bgcolor="ABABAB" border="1" !Version 0.2.1 - June 8, 2010 |}
On 29 November 1947 the United Nations General Assembly approved a plan to resolve the Arab-Jewish conflict by partitioning Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. After the Arab rejection of this plan, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria invaded the territory of the former British Mandate of Palestine. The war concluded with the 1949 Armistice Agreements, but it did not mark the end of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Three more wars would follow.

This scanario is part of the Camp David map. The Camp David map consists of the four Arab - Israeli wars:

  • 1948 Arab-Israeli War
  • 1956 Suez Crisis
  • 1967 Six-Day War
  • 1973 Yom Kippur War

Map designed and created by Basile Lemaire. Many thanks to all the people on the tripleadev forum for helping me out!

Some notes on this scenario:

  • Israel, France and the Unied Kingdom are called Sevres, after the Protocol of Sevres.
  • Israel opened the attack on Jordan, formally to drive out the Fayadeen. This attack was however a diversion. In this map, Jordan is allied with Egypt and Jordan can create Fayadeen. The Fayadeen are freedom fighters in the eyes of the Arabs, but terrorists in the eyes of Israel.
  • The United Kingdom and France had a hard time to put together their military taskforce. Therefore, both countries will have to do battle with only their starting units (no production).
  • Movement for Savres is limited. Israel cannot move beyond the east-side of the Suez Canal and can only enter Jordan's West Bank territories. Also, Israel cannot land troops in Cyprus. The United Kingdom and France cannot enter Jordan.
