Destroyers have been used in many A&A games, with somewhat different rules, always with an emphasis on countering Submarines.

Version Attack Defense Move Cost Special
AAE 3 3 2 12 Can Bombard. Neutralize submarine first strike. Allow air units to attacks subs.
AAP 3 3 2 12 Can Bombard. Neutralize submarine first strike. Allow air units to attacks subs. Japanese destroyers can carry 1 infantry.
AAR 3 3 2 12 Can Bombard. Neutralize submarine first strike. Allow air units to attacks subs.
AA50 2 2 2 8 Neutralize submarine first strike. Allow air units to attacks subs.
AA42 2 2 2 8 Neutralize submarine first strike. Allow air units to attacks subs.
AA41 2 2 2 8 Neutralize submarine first strike. Allow air units to attacks subs.
