Germany-Doug B.
Axis and Allies Europe Alternate Victory Condition for Germany: Control the Convoy Boxes
- by Doug B. -
Introduction
Britain was economically dependent upon overseas shipping for foodstuffs, raw materials, etc. Indeed, she was almost starved into submission in both World War I and II by submarines destroying inbound merchant ships.
New Victory Condition
If Germany controls all British Convoy boxes for a complete turn, Britain surrenders.
This provides a way for Germany to take her out by means other than invading and seizing the capital, and encourages Germany to adopt more of a naval effort.
Comment by Phoenix111
Phoenix111 responded to this idea:
I like to try that by buying 1 Dst for the first 12 and 5 more subs for G1. With the help by mediterranean fleet, I suspect UK will be surrendering by the end of turn 3!! If Germany single-mindedly want to strafe England for a turn or so no matter what, it is definitely within ability without too much trouble. Germany can afford to invest heavily into attacking ships for full two rounds (or 92 IPCs) without compromise the east front to Russia's force. That will be a total of 1 AC, 9 subs sailing in Atlantic in addition to the initial 10 subs and 1 BB 1 Dst in mediterranean!!! Once AC + 2 Ftr can join BB and Dst, they can form an invincible fleet and deadly attack if also witnin range from airforce from the shore (that Bmb covers cover well the three convoys down there).
Remark by thrasher
I am afraid I have to agree with Phoenix111. Still, I like this idea. Perhaps this rule can be adjusted.
